Overview
Observing that children struggle to kick a full-weight football, our client was formed in 2016 and set about designing, manufacturing, and retailing its “lightweight” range of competition standard footballs.
Offering a wide range of colours, sizes and competition levels, the footballs were sold globally to football clubs and individuals, increasingly through Amazon marketplace.
The challenge
As the platform became more expensive, sales margins became thin, and a significant hit to sales and disruption to the supply chain during the COVID pandemic left the company struggling to service the rescue loans it had been forced to rely on at the height of lockdowns.
Although the company was financially damaged, at its heart was still a business with a successful product, a proven route to market and a vast global market to explore future growth.

Forbes Burton were able to utilise its insolvency partners by placing the old company into liquidation and selling the assets and goodwill back to the directors securing not only the future for its stakeholders but ensuring that the future of grassroots football is more accessible to a wider range of children.
